One account

Bannerfall keeps no password.

Sign-in goes through the Groot Games passport, the same account that carries across every title in the family. Bannerfall never sees a password, never stores one, and could not leak one.

What the game stores about you

  • An opaque account id from the portal
  • Your display name, as you set it there
  • Your rating, Gold, Boon, Livery and House
  • The recordings of matches you have played

What it never stores

  • A password, or anything derived from one
  • An email address
  • Payment details — there is nothing to buy with money
  • Anything from a match you did not finish

How the sign-in works

  1. The game sends you to the portal

With a one-time state value bound to a cookie your browser holds, so a link somebody else built cannot sign you into their account.

  2. You sign in there, not here

The portal is the only thing that ever sees a password.

  3. It hands the game a single-use code

Good for one redirect and about two minutes. The game exchanges it server to server for your opaque id, using a secret that never reaches a browser.

  4. The game opens its own session

A fresh, random, HttpOnly cookie. Signing out ends it on the server rather than merely asking your browser to forget it.

You do not need one to play

The whole game works signed out: every rule, every map shape, the AI, and head-to-head with a friend on a match code. A passport buys persistence — a rating that survives your browser, Gold, the daily Vigil, Livery, a House. A login wall in front of a demo loses the player who was about to try it.
